Bakers across the nation have been granted an extra week to submit their most prize-worthy creations for Britain’s Best Loaf 2025 and Britain’s Best Cake 2025.

The new entry deadline for both competitions is now set at Monday 17 March, meaning businesses can still join the latest editions of the annual events taking place at the NEC Birmingham early next month.

However, entries are limited meaning you need to get your lovely loaves and creative cakes in sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.

On Monday 7 April, a panel of cake critics comprised of bakery owners, chefs, technical managers, and lecturers will congregate at the UK Food & Drink Shows to pore over slices of each participating cake. Their expert scrutiny will identify winners in eight different categories, which will go through to a final judging round to find the overall champion, proclaimed as Britain’s Best Cake.

A band of bona fide bread heads (baking experts) including an ISB specialist from Tesco, consultants with decades of experience, and several head bakers and technologists from leading firms will help judge Britain’s Best Loaf on Tuesday 8 April. They will be intensely inspecting, prodding, sniffing, and tasting all the entries across eight categories, leading up to the decision of who will be crowned the best bread in Britain.

What’s more, for the first time ever, we’ll be awarding Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals across all the categories ensuring more cakes and loaves receive the recognition they deserve.
